Our product is vacuum sealed for a good reason: METAL RUSTS! Shielding fabric is metal combined with plant fibers and other materials. The air you breathe contains water vapor. It’s called humidity. In time, this fabric and all shielding fabrics will succumb to degradation due to moisture in the air. Rust will begin and rust means shielding will begin to fail.
Other sellers of fabric that is NOT vacuum sealed are doing you a disservice (either unknowingly or deliberately--as it is more work to vacuum seal). Why? Fabric exposed to humidity has eaten into the shelf life of the product. Truth is, the moment it is produced the clock starts ticking. A well-made fabric (like ours, using unusual metal combinations), coupled with a vacuum seal gives you about two years (including hot summer humid months) before degradation starts. It may last much longer than two-years but degradation will begin. After two years, you should do a cell phone test to determine if the fabric needs replacing. Cover a cell phone in the fabric and fold the fabric over the phone so there are no gaps. Dial the phone. If the phone rings, the shielding has failed. If not, you have more time…test it every year after that.
We purchased dozens of other brands when testing the market. A few we purchased from Amazon worked well and after July and August, did not work! That is because the lifespan of that fabric was already eaten up sitting in storage. The high humidity on July/August was all it took to degrade the fabric.
